China China. Group Exhibition of Chinese Painters
Working hours: from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
From May 18 to October 6, the exhibition ‘China China’ will be held at the Kyiv PinchukArtCentre. It is a large-scale project that unites eleven Chinese painters of different generations. It is built up on contradiction of individual and collective thinking: not only this topic runs through the whole Chinese history and continuously forms modern society, but it is also of great importance in the West.
‘China China’ is an exhibition about two Chinas – the present and the past ones – and about the choice that is to be made in the future. It addresses the subject of constant research, of reality that goes from the local to the global context. The project pronounces difference in views of artists’ generation who lived through the Cultural Revolution and find ideas in the past, living the present, and of the new generation, who breaks into the rootless society, moving forward to a new future.
Presenting each of the eleven artists in a separate space, PinchukArtCentre offers highly complex look at the topic that has been embodied in the works of three generations of Chinese contemporary artists.
