Dnipropetrovsk Theater of Opera and Ballet
The biography of the theater starts from the creation of the troupe of Work Opera Theater in 1931. With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War the theater had to stop its operation, and only in 1974 the actors set their feet on the theater stage again.
The theater's team not only strived to master and popularize classical works, but wasn't afraid to experiment as well, constantly being in creative searching. Thus, in the first year over 18 performances were staged in the theater already. Among them were operas, ballets, operettas, children performance and musical evenings.
The modern repertoire of the theater is always being replenished with new genres and stagings. Alone the ballets in Neoclassicism and Jazz format are worth a lot. Today on the stage of the theater you may see such well-known operas as "Carmen" by G. Bizet, "Tosca" by G. Puccini, "The Marriage of Figaro" by W. Mozart, ballets "Don Quixote" by L. Minkus, "Swan Lake" by P.Tchaikovsky and many others.
The Opera Theater is also the main place for performances by guest musical teams.
