From April 28 to May 26, the exhibition of collages ‘Mody’ (Fashions) will take place at the Kyiv Museum of Dreams. It is devoted to the study of Soviet men’s and women’s style in the 70s – 80s. The project consists of 17 works by Kostenko brothers’ Ukrainian art-duo – aka BRATY.
‘Mody’ is the name of the magazine that features illustrations of the Soviet period clothing. Pictures from rarity editions’ pages formed the basis for the project. The authors recreate and reformulate the images of those period using varied techniques. Clash of forms, connection of nature elements and Soviet fashion trends form a collected composition, reflecting life and mood of those years. Each individual work is a psychological portrait of a person in the context of the time and the system.
