PinchukArtCentre presents the first in Eastern Europe personal exhibition of British artist Gary Hume. The exposition named "Beauty" includes over 60 pictures and sculptures.

Painting of Gary Hume often tempts with its beauty. Hume started his pictorial practice with famous door paintings - life-size presentations of hospital doors, - on which he worked from 1980-ies till 1993. Later the painter took up researching topic of human body, portray, nature, birds, flowers, etc. He creates on aluminium plates cool and smooth color fields with expressive surface with the help of gloss paint. In a whole, unique choice of materials is characteristic for Hume's creative work. His strategy is to go from concrete image, which, after long process of conversion into abstract form, can be hardly seen in the finished work.

The exhibition in PinchukArtCentre offers a holistic view on Gary Hume as on painter, who is in the tense force field between beauty and conceptualism. Within the framework of the exposition the token works of the early period are combined with recently created groups of works - such as "Rainbow", "Anxiety and Horse". There are also new pictures and sculptures, in particular "Bikini" series, which were never exhibited before.
