National Opera of Ukraine is the biggest music theater of Ukraine, proudly located in the capital of the country - Kyiv. The troupe of the theater was organized in 1867 and immediately became one of the most successful in the Russian Empire along with Moscow and St. Petersburg grandees. The gorgeous building of the theater was raised in 1901 on the design of architect Viktor Shreter. The auditorium of the opera theater consists of parterre, amphitheater, dress circle and four circles that can seat around 1650 spectators.

However, the theater is famous not only for its amazing and original performances. It was here that in 1911 the Prime-Minister of the Russian Empire Peter Stolypin was assassinated in presence of Imperator Nikolai II and his family.

Nowadays on the stage of the opera you may see such famous ballets as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Swan Lake" by P. Tchaikovsky, operas "Macbeth" by G. Verdi and "The Barber of Seville" by G. Rossini, "Carmen" by G. Bizet.
