Park "Kyiv in Miniature"
Brovarskoy Avenue, 9-v
The Park "Kyiv in Miniature" standing in the picturesque place on Dnieper River's bank is one of the most original parks in Ukrainian capital. It's a real outdoor museum, where the unique collection of small-scale models of the Kyiv's most famous architectural constructions is gathered on the territory of almost two hectares. Created in 2006, it has already managed to become the favourite recreation place for locals and particularly for capital's guests, for whom Kyiv in Miniature is an excellent opportunity to see ancient Kyiv's key sights just in half a day.
Over fifty tiny copies of the Kyiv's most interesting and popular among tourists architectural monuments are placed in the park zone near the capital Hydropark. The models are made to scale 1:33 with extremely high precision and perfect mastery. The location of the original copies makes the Park "Kyiv in Miniature" an accurate reflection of the modern city with its famous cathedrals, parks, squares, monuments, bridges, and other well-known buildings.
There is a tiny Khreshchatyk with Maidan Nezalezhnosti, and famous Golden Gates, and luxurious building of the Mariyinsky Palace in the small-scale Kyiv. Here one may see little copies of the most beautiful churches in Kyiv: Sophia of Kyiv, St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, St. Andrew's Church, St. Volodymyr's Cathedral, St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral, bell towers of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The small-scale city has its own transport infrastructure: railway station, whose interesting building, is usually unfairly overlooked by hurrying travelers, and the main gateway of the country - the airport "Borispol".
Small-scale models of some other Kyiv's notable buildings are located in the verdure of the park's lawns - buildings of the Verkhovna Rada, of the National Bank, and of the Opera and Philharmonic. Mini-Kyiv has its own parks and gardens, where monuments to the most famous cultural and political figures of Ukraine are located. It even has its own miniature Dnieper across which four bridges are thrown. To make the mini-city seem alive, mini-residents were placed here. Now, there are about thousand of them and their number continues to grow, as well as the number of the original exhibits in the Park "Kyiv in Miniature".
This unusual outdoor museum gives an amazing opportunity not only to see the whole Kyiv like the palm of your hand, but also to examine its architectural buildings, famous for their beauty, in every detail.
