Holiday of Mirgorod Pig

On the last September weekend Mirgorod will host the third Ukrainian pork festival “Holiday of Mirgorod Pig.” It is in this resort city that a special species of pig was bred more than seventy years ago. Mirgorod pig’s flesh and fat are highly appraised for their perfect taste.

“Holiday of Mirgorod Pig” is a grandiose gastronomic show for the whole family. It is traditionally held on the central city square, where a big fire is made. Dozens of chefs cook varied pork dishes on it. They include meat rolls and dumplings, cutlets, chops, steaks, a variety of sausages, borscht and broth.

Festival’s guests can taste meat dishes and even learn how to cook them during special workshops. In addition, they can participate in interesting contests and see a unique show – pig races. A stage will be set nearby and music and dancing bands will perform on it.
